Wonder Hits
Whats worse- being a- sellout or one-hit wonder?

I feel sad for the bands that have or had one-hit wonders, while angry at sellouts.
Do you have any favourite band that is considered a sellout or one-hit wonder, but you do really like them?

I'd gladly be either. Especially if you go by the complete BS fan notion of a band selling out which almost always seems to simply come down to becoming successful, regardless of how the artist actually feels about the music they are making.

Fans misuse "sell out" to needlessly justify not liking a band's newer material, or to express frustration over the expansion of a band's fanbase. Your band got famous and likes the way their music sounds produced. Doesn't make them the devil and it doesn't make them evil capitalists. Plus, what's so evil about wanting to get paid for your work? Everyone else gets to want to get paid. Fans claim to love the artists, but insist that they don't get to look out for their own interests. Funny, I'd love to see someone around here actually have a lucritive deal to use your song in a commercial (thus letting more people hear your music aside from simply getting you paid), yet if the band (often a marginally successful one, but not someone like Madonna or anything) accepts it they're suddenly turning their back on integrity. Just like the sports fan who demonizes a player on their team who leaves because the other team values their services enough to pay them 30% more. People don't turn down 30% raises in other fields, people don't turn down use of their product on a large scale that both gets them paid and promotes their product in other fields, but somehow in sports and music these people become bad for some reason. Personally, I think it's crap.
