Connecting wireless Speakers to PC?
I just bought a Samsung Soundbar ht-x810 model, which has bluetooth capabilities (the subwoofer is wireless). I'm trying to figure out how to get my desktop to connect to it via bluetooth. Do I need to buy a bluetooth usb key? Or can I download a software somewhere for free? I know I can connect the PC sound card to TV and use it that way, but would much rather go wireless. Any tips would help. Thanks!
You need a bluetooth USB stick to connect to your Soundbar.
What happens is that your computer needs to stream music over bluetooth and the soundbar would connect to that bluetooth USB stick and receive the audio stream.
If I were you I'd much rather use a cable, and here's why:
I am sure that your sound card has 5.1. I am not sure whether you can really stream 5.1 compatible music streams through a bluetooth USB stick.
A cable is more reliable than any bluetooth wireless connection will ever be.
Bluetooth uses high frequency. If you also have a wireless router running and a DECT telephone, or your neighbor has these things, and you also have a cell phone, then you have enough high frequency radiation in your home already. Don't add to that by using bluetooth instead of a proper cable connection.
A cable can be listened to from outside your house, but a bluetooth connection can. Do you want everyone to know what you're listening to? I wouldn't. A cable is better.
