Are major corporations, investment houses, using their cash to bet on commodities driving them up, when they u
sed to invest in other stocks more? Are they acting like day traders now moreso than in the past as a result of the down tic rule? They used to invest in each other with their cash. Granted, many of them have subprime write downs, but they have borrowed from the Fed to the tune of 400 Billion or over 4 times their losses! So why are they hoarding this money or bidding up commodities with it?
It is no wonder the stock market is flat when they are investing now in commodities, right? They are driving up the price of everything to make money off the small consumer, bleeding them dry!
Net...could you expand on why they could not bid these things up?
Commodities are going up in general due to:
1. Brazil
2. Russia
3. India
4. China
The "BRIC" countries. These countries are growing 7-12x the rate of the USA.
Also the weak US Dollar drives commodity prices higher as many are priced in US Dollars. The lower the USD, the higher the commodity is priced.
Further, speculators are driving prices further.
I don't think the wire houses, or companies are doing this. They can't control the market like that.
