Hi-Fi is generally defined as a set of stereo speakers and a subwoofer connected to an amplifier in your home. Stereo or stereophonic sound is the ability to create a directional sound from two independent speakers. Stereophonic term is derived from the Greek word stereos, meaning solid and telephone, its meaning. Stereo, it has evolved into multichannel surround sound. multichannel sound, also known as surround sound requires at least four and up to seven independent audio channels or speakers placed in front of and behind the center of its surrounding and thus the listener in sound. multi-channel audio is also known as 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 channels.
Home stereo systems are normally connected to get surround sound from a 5.1-channel audio. 5.1, and a home stereo system for about five or satellite speakers and a subwoofer to deliver a perfect sound for the room. 5.1-channel audio is the industry standard audio format for movies and music with the five main audio channels and a sixth sub-woofer channel (called "dot-channels), which is used in particular for the effects of film, music and downs . 5.1 channel system consists of a pair of stereo speakers, a center speaker between the stereo speakers and two surround speakers behind the listener.
