I have an 11-hour layover in CDG airport and would like to visit Paris...?

I know it's a lot to ask for details, but I'd like to know exactly how to go about doing this. I've found some conflicting information through Google searches.

My wife and I will be flying in on December 23 morning from the US and will be flying to Spain in the evening. I'm a US citizen so I'll need to go through customs/checkpoint in CDG as this is my point of entry to the EU; she will too, but she's a Spanish citizen.

I'd like to know how I can take advantage of this layover to see some of the city. We're less interested in seeing the 'big stuff' (e.g., Eiffel Tower) as we've seen much of this before... but it'd be nice if my trek took me past these sites again. My wife is specifically interested in seeing some of the stores, having some lunch, etc.

If you're willing to help me in this and need more details, please feel free to email me directly at: simbha_07@yahoo.com.

Thank you in advance.

Not sure how much help I can be without knowing exactly what you are interested in seeing/doing.

I CAN comment that you are one of the few people to have posted that can actually see some of Paris on their layover! After taking an hour to deplane, get thru Passport Control and head to the RER station, you'll have another hour or so to get into Paris. A third hour for the return train to CdG where you need to be there about 3 hours prior to departure to get thru Security and Passport Control again. That leaves you about 5 hours.

I love the Montmartre area - plenty of shops and places to eat but not really sure what you have in mind
