My Sony KDL 52W4100 Bravia LCD TV Critique
I did a large amount of research when I decided to get a 52" television set. I am a college student and a part-time store assistant at a fortune 100 business in consumer electronics. Following weeks or probably months of preparing and investigation I simplified down my selections to the Samsung A750 and the Sony KDL 52W4100. Now I did own a Samsung A550 as well as a Sony Trinitron High Def CRT in the home and they were equally very amazing but I decided that Sony does a far better task in 52" or greater category right after seeing the KDL 52W4100 and a750 for several days at work.
First off lets look at the screen. The 50'000:1 contrast of the Samsung vs. 30'000:1 contrast proportion of the Sony. The means Samsung measures its contrast ratio is sufficiently different from Sony, that's why Samsung never reveals its "TRUE CONTRAST RATIO", but Sony does. In this case sony's true contrast is 3,000:1. Whatever the actual contrast ratio of Samsung, it is not better to that of Sony's. This is something that most advisors concur on. It's effortless to blast your dynamic contrast ratio but not your true contrast. Several assert that the Samsung generates deeper blacks but my response is that this is due to Samsung's shiny mirrored display and it has absolutely nothing to do with overall performance. The matt tv screen of sony soaks in white light coming through backlight or just about any ambient lighting coming from the room. This causes the blacks not to appear as deep or artificial as the samsungs. Plus, Samsung produces all of Sony LCD displays so in terms of display screen capability they are identical. If you have a bright room go for the sony, the display screen is a bit richer and not reflective like the Samy. The backlight for Sony looks to work brighter but its not as consistently distributed as the Samy, this is apparent in the dark.
Second factor I checked for was the TV engine. We have got the Samsung's Dnie Pro vs. Bravia 2. Well there is no question that bravia 2 is the very clear champion here, being applied by Sony XBR6 and XBR7 which go for approximately $4000 dollars when the Samsung's DNIE pro is developed to be competitive with the lower end Sony Bravia Engine Pro. Sony's Standard TV quality is exceptional and the Samy is similar in results but i observed that Sony's colour was additional natural ie. colour of grass in baseball. In addition sony handles over 90% of colour Gamut despite the fact that Samsung covers only 70%, this might be the reason skin shades and greens appear more natural in the Sony.
Next was refresh rate and here both equally run at 120 Hz and here Sony has dramatically improved over the XBR4 series in motionflow. Samsung additionally does genuinely nicely in 120 Hz group so I say they are both a tie in this case.
Sound is one more essential factor for my selection, i blasted the 7 series at my job and observed very poor sound quality in severe volumes while the Sony better maintained its level of quality. Nevertheless the Samsung was in a position of providing greater Bass possibly as a result of its inbuilt Subwoofer. Sony allows you to adjust voice volume and allow steady sound to prevent commercials from freaking you out in the middle of your favourite television shows. It's a very tight decision but having made use of both Sony and Samsung (sony for for a longer period) i sense that sony is more equipped of offering quality goods as the majority of Japanese manufacturers do. Furthermore sony has good customer support vs Samsung i have experienced a sony telly break once and there was a repair man on my door step in less than 12 hours servicing my television at home (bulb replacing in an good old projection tv). Sony is the innovator here whilst Samsung is the follower, that's one justification exactly why i deciced on the sony. Largest variable for me was the exceptional Sony TV engine and better style. Oh and incidentally sony is marginally slimmer.
Sony KDL-52W4100 is the top your money can purchase for a television all round, as it continually has been ever since the day of Trinitron.
