Tips for soloing and playing lead guitar in rock and heavy metal?
I would say Im an intermediate guitar player. I know a ton of chords and have learned plenty of songs. I want to branch out and start learning to solo and improvise. What are some good scales to use for rock and heavy metal? what are good practice techniques in order to increase finger speed and strength?
I play Metal.
The first scales i learned were pentatonic, like Am.
the best thing i did to play alot faster then i could believe was really simple though.
you get a metronome and go one E string, 3 4 5 6 with all fingers, A string, 3 4 5 6, and up till high e. then back down.
seriously it sounds stupid and time consuming but HOLY CRAP it works. i should have kept it up for a month until i got amazing, but i only did it everyday for about 4 days till i got faster then i could ever needed to.
improvise from scales, speed from practice you'll be set.
