It is a fact that black objects absorb light and heat, still why do we use umbrella and helmets in black?
In India it is more common that we use black helmets and black umbrellas, and companies produce more of those in black colour. But it is a commom fact that black bodies will absorb light and heat and will never reflect. So why black is chosen for helmets and umbrellas. In fact black colour helmets are more dangerous at night rather than a coloured helemt.
the umbrella is easier- black is a easier color to make because is devoid of a singe pigment and besides not much heat to worry about when you use an umbrella (rain clouds= no sun)
the helmets- black is the color most chosen for bumpers and parts of the car exposed to road debris, it would make sense that the same would apply to the helmets
