Pair Tang
Is the water by reverse osmosis truly necessary for tanks of salt water?

I think 75 to one gallon fish only rectangular saltwater tank. It will be from 50 to 75 lbs. live rock, live sand, and skimmer. My list: 2 ocellaris clowns (mated) 1 Regal Tang Tang a fluorescent yellow goby 1 hawkfish a flame dwarf angel saddle anemone cleaner shrimp a few bubble tip anemone or RO water is a real need for this tank?

If you plan to get corals in your tank, then yes. Since the cost of saltwater fish is more expensive, it is often recommended. RO units will remove copper (too deadly to fish) pesticiedes and other pollutants in your tap water. In some areas American breeders of fish of many I know had success with R> O units. Like what is in their waters that only God knows. I will say from experience my fish do best with a reverse osmosis unit, however, about your needs and ambitions that you can remove with it.
