The HL 1650 Printer Cartridge, An Advanced Yet Affordable Printer For The Home Office
The Brother HL-1650 uses the HL 1650 printer toner and provides advanced features not found in many competitors to the small businessman at an affordable price. The HL-1650 provides printing speeds at up to 16 pages per minute of monochrome printing. An automatic duplexer allows pages to be printed on both sides automatically.
Brother has provided two data input ports on the HL-1650. These two ports are USB and parallel. When the HL-1650 is included in the small business workgroup environment, the 10/100 Base TX Ethernet print server must be purchased. Utilizing the HL-1650 in the stand alone mode, connected to one computer through the parallel port provides the highest print output rate. When the HL-1650 is placed into a network environment, print output rate decreases by approximately 33%.
When utilized in a business workgroup, the standard 8mb of memory may prove to be inadequate for all of the members of the workgroup. Should this become an issue or concern, the memory of the HL1650 is expandable to 136MB. When expanded to this generous amount of memory, the HL-1650 provides seamless printing functions for all members of the group.
To achieve the lowest print cost per page, Brother provides the HL 1650 cartridge
and the DR500 drum. The high volume T560 cartridge will print 6500 pages. The DR500 drum has a capacity of 20,000 pages. When this cartridge and drum are utilized, Brother estimates that the printed page cost will be as low as 2 cents.
Installing the HL-1650 is a simple and easy task. Utilizing the Quick Print setup utility, choices can be made which are utilized globally in the use of the HL-1650. These choices can include multi page layouts, paper type and which tray the paper will be drawn from and access to Driver Properties. The Quick Print utility can be placed either in the system tray or in its own window on the computer. Driver Properties include the addition of watermarks to the page printed. For graphics reproduction, there is a manual control for brightness and contrast.
Brother has recognized that all documents do not require printing at the 1200 dpi setting. To facilitate this, Brother permits printing as low as 300 dpi quality. While the quality of printing at 1200 dpi is outstanding, the 300 dpi quality allows quality printing at high speed for preliminary versions of documents. Speed at which the documents are printed is dependent upon several variables. These variables can be, whether graphics are included in the document and the density of the graphics in the document, the print quality desired and as previously mentioned how the printer is connected to the computer or network.
Brother has made duplex printing a simple task. Many users find alignment problems when attempting duplex printing. The HL-1650 is delivered with automatic duplex printing and six settings for alignment of documents. Should the user not choose to utilize the automatic duplex printing function, duplex printing can be completed by through a manual setting.
