Toshiba laptop came with original windows and a virus damaged it, now i dont have the install cd,so what to do
The virus first infected the computer and then i installed nod 32 antivirus and since the svchost.exe was infected so the antivirus removed that and now the LAN is not working.
Also the virus disabled my task manager. It has even removed the gpedit.msc file through which i could have removed the restriction.i even tried copying gpedit.msc from another computer but that is getting incompatibility problem to work with my system.
The computer had original windows xp home preloaded but no recovery disk along with that.
It is a Toshiba satellite model.
Also does windows xp home has got gpedit.msc??
So the final question is how do i get my LAN and task manager to work again if possible without reformatting the PC . I don't want to do the reformat since this will wipe away the original windows which came and i don't have a restore hard disk or a restore parttion on the laptop.
I do not want to install a pirated copy of the windows.
You first try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. After running the virus scan delete all temprory internet files including off line content and also unwanted files and temp. files. Finally, carryout a defragmentation . Your system will be back to the normal...!
