wiring dual voice coil DVC 1.2 OHM per coil woofer?
I have 1 dual voice coil 2000 watt woofer it reads 1.2 ohm per coil and I want to connect it to a mono amp. how do I wire it for 1ohm and how do I wire it for 2ohm The woofer reads 1.2 OHM per coil
that is a dual 1 ohm subwoofer. very rarely does any voice coil read exactly as it is rated due to production variations and the meter used.
it can only be wired for 2 ohms or .5 ohms mono. since 99 out of 100 amplifiers will not handle a .5 ohm load I would suggest wiring it for 2 ohms. (series wirng ) you do that by running the + from the amplifier to the + on voice coil 1, then run a wire from the - on voice coil 1 to the + on voice coil 2 and the- on voice coil 2 to the - on the amplifier
