Is it legal and is it possible to purchase region 1 dvds online for uk use?
I want to purchase a few series of DVD's in Region 1 (as they are not available on region 2) from Amazon canada.
I would be getting them delivered to UK and using them here... Is this legal and if so does Amazon Canada allow the sale of R1 dvds to UK?
Also if so, is there any taxes or fees payable?
Of course it is legal - in fact you may use any region's dvds on your machine, provided it will play them. I presume if you are buying region 1 dvds your machine is all-region or region zero. If not then your machine will not play them and you will have wasted your money. However, there are websites that tell you how to programme your machine to make it all-region or region zero. This is perfectly legal. Any taxes payable will have been applied at the point of sale, and none are chargeable in the UK, if the value of the dvd is less than £18.
