Turntable needle / cartridge / styli problem.. help!?
Recently I moved my decks into another room, set them up, only to discover one headshell/cart was all distorted, bass was messed up and so were the highs.
Anyway.. after a little inspection I thought it's either the headshell or cart right? Since when I use the good headshell on the same deck it plays fine.
So I bought a brand new headshell.. and a brand new Shure M44-7 (which I'm using).. just set them up, and it's still happening!!
I can't understand how it's happening at all.
TT A - Play with the good headshell/cart = GOOD.
TT A - Play with the brand new headshell/cart = DISTORTED.
WTF??!?!?!?!?
Please help because I'm going crazy.
I've had the decks about a month in total, Technics 1210's. Shure M44-7's as carts/styli.
Sounds like a proplem I was having. You Said you started having this problem after moving your decks. This happen to me, I moved my decks and never checked whether they were level and for some reason it was distorted and then the needles started skiping to the end of the record. If I was you check to see if your tables are level. Sounds corney but fixed my problem. Also, having speakers behind your decks can mess up the sound quality.
How to fit the cartridge( needle / stylus) to the head shell
