My Favorite Fancy Dress Costume - The Cowardly Lion
Personally, I like the Cowardly Lion character from the Wizard of Oz as a Halloween costume. How ironic that the king of beasts, the lion, is fearful in the Wizard of Oz. He travels along with Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road to solicit the Wizard to impart him courage. The lion is not wholly cowardly because he does indeed engage in some courageous acts on the journey to the Wizard.
The cowardly lion, therefore, would be such a superb costume to wear for Halloween because he can lead people to believe that he is fearful and frightened, but when they come close to him he could bounce up and roar like a lion.

If you're into gruesome costumes, the Wicked of Oz costume is ideal for adults. It has bloody claws and blood-spattered shirt. I'm sure this costume will give some people a few nightmares! If you're trying to save money and are quite creative you can unquestionably create your own outfit. Some ideas include using a light brown colored sweat suit and sewing or sticking brown felt or faux fur on the belly. For the tail you could use a rope or a long strip of fur attached to the back. You can either use a brown pull on hat and sew two ear-shaped pieces of brown fur or felt to it or for the ladies, attach them to an alice band for a slightly more sophisticated look. To finish off add a pair of brown boots or shoes and a pair of brown furry looking mittens or gloves. If you want a finished lion look, you must use some face paints.
