Probelms with my record player?
I have a (pretty old) record player, the model is "Aiwa PX-E10". When I play any record it plays slightly too fast resulting in the vocals etc being a little too high, too high to listen to. I was wondering if anyone knows what causes this problem? I have recently renewed the belt and it is on the correct speed setting. Could it be a new needle I need?
i'll try stretching the belt a little. the dial only as two set settings. thanks for the advice though.
It is unlikely to be a needle problem as dust on the needle or a worn needle would tend to slow down or distort your music. What you have is a turntable that is running too fast resulting in music being pitched to high. Most turntables have a speed adjustment dial to increase or decrease the speed until you get it just right - does your Aiwa have one that you use? If not, it may be that the new belt is just a little tight so try removing it and very carefully stretching it a little. Keep doing this until the pitch is about right. Crude but it may just work in the absence of a variable speed dial.
