what is the best home theater audio setup for a 200 square foot room and playing movies, music, and karaoke?
I have a 200-215 square foot room and I am shopping for a home theater audio setup. I plan to buy: 1) Amplifier/receiver
2) DVD player
3) Speakers 5.1
I am looking for system that is capable of playing HD movies surround sound and karaoke. So far I am considering Samsung, Sony, and Bose. But I am not sure if they are capable of karaoke. Any advice on making a great home theater?
Hi,
Looks like you have many high expectations... especially with needing a good Karaoke system.
For HT - it's easy, as lots of systems will do a good job.
But as far as Karaoke --- this is a demanding task for any HT system - at least to do it well, it is a hard task.
IMO, any of Bose's consumer line speakers will not be sufficient - especially for music and karaoke - in that size of area.
My best suggestion is to look at Klipsch's Reference series speakers: towers. I know you may not think that towers the most wonderful to compliment a room - but for the size of your room and the need for it to do Karaoke - I'd go with those. Reference62: http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/rf-62-overview/
The Reference series is very efficient speakers - that handle alot of power... while they are loud, they are also accurate when powered well + I think they provide very warm sounding vocals... but these reference series can be expensive. You can also check out the Synergy series - which is at a better price point. Klipsch also makes bookshelf style: check these out: http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/rb-81-overview/
... then of course you need a decent reciever. I'd go with a mid level Yamaha or Onkyo.

Good LUck! hope this helps:)
