Throw a Killer Party with a Karaoke Machine
It doesn’t matter if you buy a karaoke machine or rent one, just having a karaoke player available at a party can make the difference between a party everyone enjoys and a party where guests can’t get to the door fast enough. They have come a long way; they used to be nothing more with than a boom box with a tape player and tiny monitor for the lyrics. Many are high-tech rigs, with outputs for multiple TV's as well as good sounding backing tracks. There are many ways to get Karaoke in your home including the following:
1. Rent a Unit
If you only want a karaoke machine for a one-night party, renting from a local rental company is your best choice. Most rental companies have karaoke party packages; your package may include lights, the best microphones, and a huge selection of songs! Some of these packages actually include a computer loaded with all the songs you could ever want or need for the most discerning and eclectic music lovers.
2. Buy
As previously stated, karaoke machines are different today; you can get a machine that plays special CDs with matching lyrics on your television screen. The initial cost of a karaoke machine and a couple of CDs isn’t that expensive, but it can be costly to build up a large selection of music. As for the players themselves, their cost will depends on the vocal effects, number of video outputs, inputs, and other factors. Most new karaoke systems are able to play music files from a computer burned onto a CD or those files can be accessed through a USB port that is hooked up to a portable storage device, like a tiny travel flash drive. Most standard players are sold with a pair of low-end microphones although they are compatible with better microphones; in fact, it may be worth the investment to upgrade if you are serious about karaoke or want to host multiple parties. 3. Buy a Modern Game System
The hot game systems that are out now, including the Wii, PlayStation 3 and X-box 360 all have games that are essentially Karaoke. These games sometimes come bundled with microphones and are typically a good value, especially if you own the game system already. You might find a limited selection of songs that can only be upgraded with extra money. Also, the microphones are usually low-line and not very durable. They must be replaced with other microphones designed for the game system and the selection is limited. Although a modern gaming console with a karaoke game is ideal for the occasional karaoke party, it isn’t best for regular or frequent parties.
