Decorative Rock Options Like Cotswald Buff Chippings

When landscaping a yard there are lots and lots of options for you to choose from. You need to consider decisions like decorative bark versus dark topsoil for your flowerbeds. You need to also consider what sort of walkways you want to have going round your house.

When you are trying to decide on a type of decorative path you want to have at your home you have several options. You can use pavers and create a stone walkway. You may go another direction and want to have concrete walkways put in around your home. The easiest walkway to create though is one made of Cotswald Buff Chippings or another type of decorative stone.

There are lots of choices when it comes to sizes and colors of decorative rock. Every color of the rocks represents a different mineral. For instance Cotswald Buff Chippings are made primarily of limestone, which is why they have that nice buff color to them. You can also purchase decorative rock that comes in red. You can even buy white stones or stones that are more of the expected gray tones. The rocks are all different types. Lava rock is usually what you have when you are looking at red decorative rock. The white stones are forms of granite or even limestone. River rock is often what the gray rocks are.

Once you know what color and type of rock you think you want to use, then comes the decision about the size of the rocks you want to use. The chippings are exactly what you would think they are and that is chips of larger pieces of rock, so they are small. If you are buying something for a walkway you want to go with a smaller type of rock, not something like lava rock that tends to be bigger pieces. Larger rocks are much better to use on a flower bed or as a ground cover and alternative to decorative bark. If you want to use the white rock that is made of granite or limestone then you should also consider that for an area that isn't your walkway. A good alternative for walkways though is river rock which can come in all sorts of sizes.
