Am I the only one who thinks DTS always sounds better than Dolby Digital?
I have read many people say here that they think Dolby Digital sometimes sounds better than DTS and I have read others say the difference is barely audible. I know the increase in volume you get with DTS makes a fair comparison difficult. Still, after years of comparisons I have yet to hear a DVD that sounds better to me in Dolby Digital than it does in DTS. In fact, I think DTS is clearly better all the time. Am I the only one?
Usually I have found that most recording engineers will take much more time with the DTS track that the DD track for a couple of reasons:
1) Most people have to select the DTS track to experience it and want to have the best sound possible.
2)Systems that reproduce DTS properly are higher grade than the HTIBs that have DD only standard.
3) DTS has a much tighter quality control system in place than Dolby.
4) The increased resolution of DTS enables the recording engineer to really put the spurs to a good home theater system and blow the mind of the listener.
