Is there much latency with the Mbox 2 pro when playing RTAS instruments using MIDI?
Hi,
I want to set up a studio again after years of not recording anything (I used to have a digi001 which was pretty good). I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews about pro tools le 8 and M-powered 8. Latency seems to be an issue with M-powered as there's no Low Latency Monitoring option as in the M-Box 2 and Digi001 packages. I know you can monitor through a mixer or a soundcard with DSP (profire 2626) but I'm going to be recording some MIDI too and that means I will be depending on plug ins to produce the sound that I hear back (so latency will have to be low).
Using the Mbox 2 pro: What's the latency like for playing RTAS instruments through MIDI (from a keyboard or electronic drums)?
I'm not sure if I would be better off getting Cubase 5 and a decent firewire soundcard (Focusrite pro 40 or similar)
I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop, dual 2.8GHZ pentium 4, 4 GB ram, 200GB 7200rpm drive.
using MIDI, i experience no lag,
but Line and Mic when im monitoring thru headphones yea i experice some lagtime
