How do you set up the Multi Zone on a Denon AVR-689?
The manual does not explain how to do this. Please help on this. I have 2 outdoor speakers that I am trying to hook up and run off of my receiver.
Yeah - it's a bit of a pain to figure out for the first time. I have a different model but I assume it is the same.
First - hook up the speakers to the terminals in the back that are for multizone (these are the ones that say surround back/amp assign).
Next, on the remote thre is a switch under the section labled as source control. Move the switch to the Zone2 position. Press the power button to turn on Zone2 (you can also do this from the front of your receiver). Now with the switch still at Zone2, start to increase the volume. A separate volume indicator should show up on the front panel labelled zone2 - you will see it is set at - - to start.
As you increase the volume you should start to hear something out of the Zone2 speakers. Press power again to shut off zone2. You need to switch over to Zone2 in order to change source etc... for that zone (you can run say your DVD player on the main zone and the tuner on the outdoor speakers at the same time).
