Foundation color advice?!?
I bought the covergirl clean foundation: oil control in classic ivory. Whenever I use it, it makes my face look orange! I have really light skin, not ghost white, but pretty light. I like this foundation and I'd buy it again but I'm not sure what color I should get. Should I get ivory or porcelain?
I have very pale skin too being a redhead, so I always buy porcelain or ivory. But you do have to be careful as some makeup companies have different ranges in colours, for instance I used to buy Max Factor face powder and I would buy this colour, but then one day I bought it and it was dark orange on my face. It was because I used to buy 001 and the shop had only stocked 005 this time and I hadn't realised and just bought it based on the colour name. So now I am always careful to check the numbers as well as the colour.
You should use the testers before buying to make sure you have the right colour for you. They say to use the inside of your arm as a testing area, but I find, especially having freckles on my face, that the inside of my arm is too pale.(no freckles there either) I use the back of my hand to get a better match as the hands are as exposed as the face.
Not to waste the foundation you have bought, mix in a bit of moisturizer which will lighten it and make it more of a tinted moisturizer.
