How do I get speaker sound to work ? The clock won't keep it's time either.?
I'm told there's a button battery in the tower that keeps memory with such things. Is it true? And where is it?
Hey when you open your case you will see a round shiney silver battery about the size of a quarter snapped into a socket on your board. It looks like a large watch battery. Turn the power off and unplug your computer. Remove it and go to your local computer store and purchase one or buy an old computer at a garage sale and remove it and replace your non working one with the working one. Do not use a metal object to remove your old battery. Use something like plastic pen tip to release the battery holder spring. Do not use force, be delicate. If you break your battery holder your computer will be worthless without repairs
by a qualified technician. It comes out easy and it goes back even easier.
Answer no 2 your sound doesn't work either because you have lost the driver that runs the sound card or on board sound. It could need a cable run from your cd rom to your board or card
according to which is in use. If you have on board sound most often is the case your board sound may be blown. You can purchase a sound card and install it with the drivers and regain
your sound.
And sad but true you could have a virus or trogan horse or a spyware program taking over your computer. Run your virus protection and your antispy software and run your normal windows clean ups and you could solve all your problems.
