Celestion Ditton 44 speakers?
I have celsetion ditton 44 speakers and I was wondering if a bass bort would ad to the quality of the sound. Also, if anybody has similar speakers with a basport, do you think it helps?

I don't know what shoes have 2 do with the app of a
bass port in a cabinet / enclosure. Most good speaker
enclosures will have a 'tuned' bass port. Not just a hole
cut in a case, but a recessed PVC tube cut to a certain
length. If you wish to add a bass port to an enclosure
that doesn't have one; this might not be a good idea.
There may already be a method for the woofer to breath.
Some manufacturers will pack the enclosure with a
moisture resistant insulation. Modifying your speakers
may not be a good idea. It will take away from the resale
value, and just might wind up reducing them 2 matchwood.
If you insist on the fabrication of a port, your best bet is
to figure the inside dimensions and construct a port to
the proper length. Remember, a speaker is a current driven
device that changes electrical energy into mechanical
energy (the movement of air). The length of the port is
directly proportional to the enclosure and the room
dimensions. Start with a port about 3" in diameter. Cut
it to the length of about 5" Make the hole for the PVC
tube to fit as snugly as possible to allow for adjustment.
Place the tube in the hole, leaving about an inch sticking
out. Try a sample of a bass program. Adjust the port tube
in or out of the enclosure until you get the desired results.
Once this is done to your satisfaction, you can cut the
PVC to the length you need. Use a good marine epoxy
to glue the tube in place. Start with the tube with 1"
sticking out. Draw a bead of epoxy all the way around it,
and let it get tacky. This will only take about 1 minuet.
Carefully push the tube into the enclosure until no more
than 3/8" is sticking out. Let the epoxy dry overnight.
This should work well 4 U!
