How to go to Paris from Roissy CDG Cedex?

I'll be leaving tom and will be staying in France for a couple of days only. We are checked in at Sofitel CDG Airport, because it is closer to the airport, and I would very much want to see Paris for the usual tourist destinations.
Can somebody direct me how to go there? What train to take and around how much would it cost?
Merci beaucoup! I'm looking forward to this trip. :)
Yes I've checked the Paris Visite card and it seems logical to purchase that one instead of paying everytime you take a ride. But do you guys know where I can buy it? Do we have it at the CDG Airport? Thanks a lot!

It was a bad idea to check in at a hotel near the airport, you should have booked in Paris to enjoy the night life and save time and money on the unnecessary 90-minute round trip between the hotel and Paris. If there is no cancelation fee then it's still time to reconsider your choice.

But anyway, if you are staying at your hotel, take RER B to Paris and get off at Chatelet-les-Halles or even better St-Michel Notre Dame (you'll be right outside Notre Dame and in the heart of the Latin Quarter), they are the most central stations. You can also connect with any metro line depending on where you want to go. Look at the map given by David above.

A Paris Visite pass is never a good idea, it's a tourist scam. You should get a Mobilis pass, it is valid all day in and outside Paris and costs 12.50 euros from Roissy. You need to ask for a Mobilis zones 1-5. You can buy both passes the first day, but each pass will only be valid if you write the date that you'll be using it on. Have a great time in Paris!
