Can you use Bose speakers with a non-Bose receiver?
I have an Onkyo receiver that Ive used with several different brands of speakers in the past. But I can't get a pair of Bose Freespace speakers to work with it. Are bose speakers only compatible with Bose receivers?
I use the Bose double cubes that came with my Lifestyle system. These are now connected to my second Yamaha surround sound receiver/amp and work great. I had to get rid of my Acoustimass module and cut the plugs off of the speakers so they would connect directly to my amp. I have them in a 5.1 configuration and I bought a Yamaha powered subwoofer to replace the Acoustimass subwoofer.
It works great and was relatively easy to set up. I wasn't sure if these were 8 ohm speakers - Bose doesn't document this anywhere that I could find - but it works on my system at 8 or 6 ohms, which are my two available choices. I keep it at 8 ohms setting because it's the default.
